Fall 2026 UPDATE:

To continue improving fairness, transparency, and consistency in our Select program, Navajo is implementing updates to our Select team formation process. This season, we are introducing a Select Advisory & Review Committee, which will help guide manager selection, team planning, and roster formation using a more structured and analysis-driven approach.


These process improvements are intended to support thoughtful, consistent decision-making while maintaining a competitive and development-focused environment for our athletes.


Key points to know:

  • Select Managers will complete an application and be reviewed by the Select Advisory & Review Committee using both the application inputs and a newly established evaluation criteria (coaching experience, leadership, communication, player development, and prior family feedback to the league).
  • The number of Select teams in each division will be discussed by the Committee on July 13th and determined based on registration numbers, manager availability, and league resources. Team numbers will ultimately be approved by the Board of Directors on July 16th. 
  • Approved Managers will attend a mandatory meeting in the following week of July (week of 20 July) to collaborate on roster construction, with oversight from league leadership to help ensure league policies and procedures are followed.
  • To ensure a fair and consistent player selection process, managers may not guarantee or commit roster positions prior to the manager meeting in July. Any roster invitations will be made after the meeting, at which time families may accept or decline the opportunity to play for that manager. 
  • An optional Select Workout will provide players with an opportunity to be seen and managers an opportunity to observe players as they build rosters.
  • No team is guaranteed, all teams must be approved and finalized by the Board. Final rosters will be reviewed for approval by the Executive Board on August 1st.


Please note that participation in Select registration or attendance at the Select Workout does not guarantee placement on a Select roster.

Please register as early as possible, as registration numbers will be reviewed during the July Committee meetings. Please note: registration fees will increase throughout the month of July.

 July 1–15 — Select Manager Application Period

 August 1 — Select Workout (Time TBD)
If your player is interested in joining a Select team, join us for a casual, player-optional workout to shake off the summer dust. Select Managers are required to attend.

Select vs. All-Stars

  • Select program participation does NOT guarantee selection for an All Star team. While it will provide your player with skills required for All Stars and is designed to be a competitive experience similar to All Stars, participation in Selects in no way secures a position on an All Star team.
  • Likewise, players who do not participate in Select will in no way be discouraged from or ineligible to play on an All Star team. All Star selection is completely independent from Select. 


Select Manager EXPECTATIONS

  • Select managers are responsible for the overall operation of their team. This includes, but is not limited to, team selection, coordination of practices, lineup construction, playing time allocation, selection of coaching staff, and communication with the League and team parents.
  • Interested managers are expected to have experience with competitive softball.
  • Coaches are expected to attend all practices, games and tournaments. Players must be registered for the Fall season and be in good standing.
  • Assistant coaches will be selected by the team manager and must be approved by the Board. 
  • Players are expected to exhibit a higher than average knowledge of the game, athletic ability, skill, commitment level and positive attitude.


Select Fees

  • Select fees will be determined by the number of tournaments and friendlies played.
  • Fees include jersey, tournament registrations, umpire fees and game balls.
  • Teams will be allowed to fundraise up to the tournament registration fee amount.
  • Fundraising will be reconciled at the end of the Select season. Any surplus funds will be donated to the league.
